To mark its 100th anniversary, Bonds has brought together Miranda Kerr, Rachael Taylor, Kelly Gale, Samara Weaving, Ruby Rose, Elyse Taylor, Jack Vanderhart and Sarah Stephens in the label’s biggest celebrity shoot, which will appear on billboards right around the country.
Kerr said she was thrilled to be back on set with the label that helped launch her career 12 years ago. The supermodel chose a pair of high-waisted cottontail undies and matching bra for her Bonds look.
“It was such fun to reunite again and work with a room full of Australians. We have such a unique sense of humour and similar work ethic,” she said. “We just want to get the job done and have fun doing it. I think everyone has worn Bonds at some point in their life so it was great to reconnect to the brand.”
The mother of four-year-old son Flynn says she has no problem stripping down to her knickers.
“I have always been a free spirit and sometimes my job is in my underwear. I think it’s important to take care of yourself because you exude great energy. After I gave birth I accepted that my body might not come back but it’s about being healthy and I would have been like this regardless of my job. I enjoyed having a tummy and if I did get stretch marks, at the end of the day it wouldn’t matter,” she said.
Still single, Kerr said her priority is juggling motherhood and her career, preferring to spend time with her son, Flynn, and ex-husband, Orlando Bloom, away from the paparazzi.
“We want to be great parents so we often do stuff together at home. We try our best and keep it real because we want to be great parents.”
She said the most important time for her, is the time she gets to spend with her boy. And she makes the most of every minute.
“Motherhood is something that I love and when I’m with my son I put the phone down and connect,” she said, explaining it’s the simple things that make motherhood magic.
“This morning we were singing Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music with a piano and the song up really loud. For me it’s about balancing that with my career,” she said.
The 31-year-old will not return for Mercedes-Benz Australian Fashion Week in Sydney next week.
A trip to Asia, which will include visits to Tokyo and Hong Kong, means Flynn will be staying with his dad, Orlando, in Los Angeles.
“It’s better for him to be in his normal routine. If he’s not with me he is with his dad so I know he is happy,” she said.
The Bonds team worked around the clock for months to bring the classic #100 shoot together.
The year-long celebration will culminate with a special event this August that will include past ambassadors, such as Pat Rafter.
